‘Leading for Growth – SuperValu’

Leading for Growth is a blended Authentic Leadership Development programme aimed at the independent and entrepreneurial grocery stores owners: the SuperValu Retailers. The programme set out to build a leadership approach and growth mindset, as a key way to create sustainable competitive advantage.

Over 10 months store owners developed their personal, business and authentic leadership through peer workshops, executive coaching, bespoke tools and survey insights. Retailers’ thinking was disrupted, resulting in both significant personal change and positive changes to their businesses.

The judges were impressed with the design thinking, good evidence of delivery of a HR strategy through a development initiative, all of which was very focussed on business results.

Highly commended

‘Arnotts and FAO Schwarz Wonderment Onboarding Experience’

In October 2019, Brown Thomas Arnotts launched the first FAO Schwarz toy store in Ireland, which focusses on creating a world of imagination for children and adults. A key success factor of success was the intensive induction training for the newly hired retail team. As FAO Schwarz is very much focused on retail as theatre, this was a challenging and novel project for the Learning and Development team.

The onboarding had to be innovative, comprehensive, and exciting as they learnt about Arnotts, FAO Schwarz, their roles, the values of both brands and how to deliver an incredible customer experience for customers of every age. The phenomenal business results were a clear indicator of success.
