The judges commented on how MSD successfully made a real difference when recruiting in a very competitive labour market. With pressure to recruit large numbers, they identified an innovative approach, a focus on shifting the mindset for recruitment, an integrated approach to deliver a high volume across the company in a short time frame.

MSD, with a team of 2,500 across 5 Irish locations, adopted ‘one-MSD’ to revolutionise how it attracted and retained talent. Creative strategies amplified the company’s ‘Employer Brand’ and positioned them as an ‘Employer of Choice’. This included retraining managers, giving candidates a unique recruitment and interviewing experience, and showcasing how MSD ‘invents for life’.

The FAO Schwarz mission is to provide customers with an unrivalled theatrical experience and the Arnott’s team set out to encapsulate this in its recruitment strategy. For their recruitment day they hosted an Audition Day in the Smock Alley Theatre where potential team members had to use their imagination to sell a toy through performance.

The judges saw this as a very good example of looking in right place for talent, taking a good risk, leveraging other teams such as Marketing team and delivering through a very creative approach.
